I think you hit the nail on the head , R.H. I just wrote an article about distractions and the Resistance and this resonated. It seems like we're all wrestling with these distractions today. Perhaps, more than ever...
What a mix of feelings of melancholy and wistful. And maybe an optimistic twist on our undergoing techno-evolution? I love the idea here of the importance of learning how to dream again. How dreaming sustains us more than sleep perhaps. The end leaves you with a warm feeling of rediscovery!
The writing is so descriptive, I can visualize and feel everything David is going through. My takeaway is that he feels like he is just aimlessly walking through life and not really experiencing or feeling anything of substance anymore. He wants to sleep but is just up late at night caught in the same loop of playing things that were targeting to him through Ads, kind of similar to the habit of just mindlessly doom scrolling in bed before falling asleep, then waking up and repeating a routine the next day.

Thank you for reading Thomas! I'll head over and read your piece on distractions!
We definitely are battling with distraction and it's effect is sometimes so subtle and frequent that we fail to notice.
That would mean the world! Feedback from someone like yourself is critical.

Loved it! I left a comment of my initial though! I like your narrative style as well.

There's definitely an emphasis on searching for a way to sleep or dream again. Unfortunately, David doesn't find it. Maybe one day!
Thanks for reading, man!
